Miley Cyrus debuts pop opera “Something Beautiful” in theaters June 12 (NA) and June 27 (Intl). Album drops May 30.
Miley Cyrus is entering a new artistic chapter with Something Beautiful, a feature-length pop opera and visual album, coming to theaters for a one-night event. Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Vision announced screenings for June 12 in North America and June 27 internationally.
The release follows the film’s world premiere at the Tribeca Festival on June 6. Tickets go on sale May 22.
Described as a fusion of fashion, fantasy, and original music, Something Beautiful is Cyrus’ most ambitious film project to date. It features 13 original songs from her upcoming album of the same name, set for release on May 30 via Columbia Records. Both the album and film are executive produced by Miley Cyrus and Shawn Everett.
The film was directed by Cyrus alongside Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter. Benoît Debie’s cinematography and Alan Meyerson’s theater-exclusive mix bring the visuals and sound into high fidelity. Panos Cosmatos, known for Mandy, co-produces with XYZ Films.
“Something Beautiful is my dream project come true—fashion, film, and original music coexisting in harmony,” Cyrus said. “Each collaborator has used their expertise to make this fantasy a reality.”
Something Beautiful not only marks a new milestone in Miley Cyrus’ career but also contributes to the growing genre of visual albums being explored in cinematic spaces.
