“RUNNING LAPS” is Healy’s first single in two years, capturing cycles of self-doubt and the struggle for growth.
Healy, the Memphis-based singer and multi-genre artist known for his vulnerable storytelling, returns with “RUNNING LAPS,” his first release in over two years. The single marks a poignant reflection on emotional cycles and self-sabotage.
“Am I departing from my old self and habits, or have I been just self-sabotaging and giving up when the going gets tough?” Healy shares. “The imagery that came to mind was that iconic photo of Muhammad Ali looking over Sonny Liston — my higher self being down on the ground.”
With 200M+ catalog streams and co-signs from names like SZA and Cautious Clay, Healy’s music continues to strike a powerful chord. “RUNNING LAPS” picks up where his 2023 Look at God EP left off—introspective, soulful, and sonically rich.
Raised in Memphis, Healy’s early exposure to choir music, soul, and Southern rap built the foundation for his unique voice. Though he pursued a career in physical therapy, his creative path ultimately led him to music full-time.
He released Subluxe independently in 2017 before signing to RCA for Tungsten in 2021, followed by Look at God in 2023.
With “RUNNING LAPS,” Healy invites us back into his world—one where emotion leads and growth takes center stage. More music is on the horizon.
