Grace Davies drops “MDE,” a clever, colorful take on social dynamics and self-expression.

In her new single “MDE,” Grace Davies finds the sweet spot between satirical storytelling and sonic vibrance. Known for her unique lyrical voice and musical intuition, Davies brings her inner monologue to life with a tongue-in-cheek anthem that playfully critiques modern social encounters.

“It’s essentially the dialogue that goes on in my head when I’m on a night out with friends and we get chatted up by some sleazeball who won’t stop talking about crypto / stocks and shares,” Grace explains. “It encapsulates the phrase ‘chewing your ear off’ pretty well, I’d say!”

But beneath the wit lies something deeper: a songwriter navigating self-expression through observation and irony. “MDE” (short for “Massive Dialogue Energy”) transforms a moment of social tension into a technicolor burst of indie-pop that still carries Grace’s emotional signature—even in jest.

There’s theatricality in the delivery, from her storytelling tone to the song’s layered psychedelic-pop production. But through it all, Grace remains grounded in her identity, offering listeners a version of herself that is at once honest, clever, and completely in control.
