Congolese superstar Fally Ipupa, widely acclaimed as the Prince of Rumba, is poised to release his eagerly awaited album, ‘XX,’ on April 17 through Warner Music France. This significant release marks a remarkable milestone in his illustrious career, encapsulating twenty years of exceptional talent, creativity, and influence within the African music scene.
The album’s lead track, ‘Jam,’ features afrobeats superstar Wizkid, alongside the previously dropped single ‘Cinéma,’ showcasing Fally Ipupa’s evolution as an artist. With a total of 19 tracks, ‘XX’ is a collaboration with an impressive roster of international artists, including GRAMMY Award-winning Angélique Kidjo, Haitian rising sensation Joé Dwèt Filé, amapiano innovator DJ Maphorisa from South Africa, pop duo Calema from São Tomé, and French rap artist KeBlack. Enhanced by the work of revered producers such as Trésor Riziki, Dany Synthé, and Seysey, the album promises a meticulously polished sound.

‘XX’ aims to blend the global pop elements reminiscent of his successful Tokoos era with the traditional sounds that have long characterized his artistry. At its essence, Congolese rumba—a genre rich in emotionally resonant guitar melodies—remains a focal part of Fally’s musical expression. This new offering aspires to enrich his legacy by integrating contemporary pop, R&B, and afrobeats while remaining rooted in the cultural nuances of his Congolese heritage.
Beyond his musical endeavors, Fally Ipupa’s influence extends as he engages with various organizations such as UNESCO, the United Nations, and UNICEF, using his platform for advocacy and change. He boasts over three billion global streams, 2.5 billion YouTube views, and an impressive social media following of 30 million. His record-breaking sold-out shows, including being the first African solo artist to fill Paris La Défense Arena, further attest to his stature in the music industry.
As ‘XX’ launches, Fally Ipupa has plans for concerts at Stade de France in Paris, celebrating two decades of remarkable artistry. Following the album release, he is also anticipated to embark on an international tour spanning the UK, Europe, and North America. With ‘XX’, Fally Ipupa not only reaffirms his musical legacy but also continues to shape and influence the cultural landscape on a global scale.
