Ally Evenson unveils “The Line,” a genre-bending track with an imaginative horror-inspired video.
With “The Line,” indie-alt artist Ally Evenson puts forth a release that is both musically unorthodox and visually daring. Available now via Assemble Sound/Atlantic Records, the single is a teaser of what’s next in her ever-evolving narrative.
Initially composed in jest, “The Line” ultimately became a powerful track showcasing Evenson’s clever lyricism and adventurous production style. “‘The Line’ is a song originally made as a joke… Country D&B song about intrusive thoughts!” she explains.
The track is backed by a striking music video rooted in body horror visuals. “The video, however, is almost a prequel to my debut album, BLUE SUPER LOVE,” Evenson shares. “I made a joke about eating the blue hat I wear all the time…”
Evenson’s past releases, including Not So Pretty and In My Dreams, You Laugh at Me, have already been praised by platforms like Pitchfork, who called her work “super sad, super horny, and, especially, super pissed-off.” Now with “The Line,” she furthers her commitment to authenticity, risk-taking, and uninhibited expression.
