Emily James debuts “Underdog,” an emotionally charged single from “Summer Nostalgia”
Emily James’ newest track, “Underdog,” channels the confusion and chaos of youth through potent rock instrumentation and lyrical vulnerability. Featured on her upcoming EP Summer Nostalgia, the song represents a narrative shift and emotional breakthrough.
“I see it as a tumultuous high school relationship,” James explains. “The sound of ‘Underdog’ really leans into that teenage angst and the release of all the frustrations you’ve been trying to bury.”
With sharp lyrics like “I’m holding on to what could be, but would it be better?” James captures the hesitations and heartbreak that often define early emotional experiences.
Following on the heels of “Under the Influence” and “Suburbia,” this track signals a new energy within the project. The accompanying video further underscores the song’s intensity.
Emily’s summer is set to be a busy one. She joins Donovan Woods for a West Coast run starting June 19, bringing Summer Nostalgia to fans across Denver, San Francisco, and more.
