Idia Aisien is preparing for a career-defining moment as she takes on her first theatre role in the UK. Her new project, Dear Father, opens for a limited run from June 12 to 14 at Woolwich Works in London, placing her alongside icons like RMD, Kunle Remi, and Tobi Bakre.
The Nigerian-American performer first earned acclaim in the 2020 reboot of Nneka the Pretty Serpent, but her transition to live performance marks a significant evolution.
“This role came at a time when I was personally reflecting on the importance of the relationships that shape us—especially those with our parents,” Aisien revealed. “Dear Father is more than a play; it’s a statement about love, loss, and the role fathers play in helping their daughters find their voice.”
Previously known for her fashion campaigns and television hosting, Aisien’s creative path has consistently been guided by a desire to tell stories that matter. Now she brings those convictions to a new stage—literally.
With themes of love, grief, and the urgency of confronting societal issues such as femicide, Dear Father offers both performance and perspective. Aisien’s participation signals an important shift in global storytelling, where African voices take center stage in international venues.
