‘1.1’ introduces Whitney Whitney’s pop identity, driven by orchestral emotion and lyrical depth.
Whitney Whitney launches her debut EP, 1.1, today via Atlantic Records, inviting listeners into the first part of what she calls a series of evolving musical “worlds.” The project is a personal, orchestral pop collection shaped by emotion and imagination.
The EP’s lead single, “Touching You,” represents Whitney’s approach to writing with feeling rather than fact:
“‘Touching You’ is a song about falling in love again… I think art is play, and this song is about no one—just me playing with what I imagined letting myself fall in love again would feel like.”
Whitney’s background in musical theater and poetry finds full expression here, combining textured arrangements with a cinematic sound.
“Writing this EP was one of the most fun and rewarding things I’ve ever done… That’s what I love about this project.”
Influenced by the storytelling styles of Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple, and Elton John, Whitney’s writing feels free-flowing yet purposeful. Based in Los Angeles, she brings her East Coast upbringing and theater roots into every note.
Working alongside Justin Lucas, the EP captures a debut artist already in control of her voice and sound. 1.1 is not just an introduction—it’s an artistic statement about where Whitney Whitney begins.
