Songwriter Whitney Whitney explores poetic risk in new piano-driven single “Does The Narcissist Need A Kiss?”

There’s a unique alchemy in translating dreams into music, and Whitney Whitney captures that exact magic with her latest release, “Does The Narcissist Need A Kiss?”. The new single is a product of intuition and lyrical boldness—what begins as a dream becomes a striking piece of alt-pop poetry.

“I woke up at 3 AM, and I was like, ‘I’m going to write these crazy lyrics I came up with in the dream half-asleep’…”, Whitney recounts.

This approach—letting emotion guide structure—defines Whitney’s songwriting style. Rather than adhering to pop formula, she allows her thoughts to dictate the melody. The result is a track that feels instinctive and alive.

The soft piano arrangement, paired with airy vocal layering, gives the track a floaty yet grounded atmosphere. It’s not just a diss—it’s a detailed, emotionally charged memory turned into a soundscape.

With producer Justin Lucas at the helm, the track maintains a delicate sonic balance that elevates Whitney’s storytelling. It’s a continuation of her journey from musical theater stages and journal pages to streaming platforms.

“Does The Narcissist Need A Kiss?” is another step in Whitney Whitney’s evolution—one built on experimentation, vulnerability, and lyrical freedom.
