Singer-songwriter Tim Camrose shares a new chapter in his artistic journey with the release of ‘Light in the Dark’ on September 19th. This reimagined version of a song first introduced in 2022 captures a renewed emotional energy, thanks in part to a compelling collaboration with the Collectives Gospel Choir.
As a former surgeon and university professor, Camrose brings a distinctive lens to his songwriting. ‘Light in the Dark’ was born from his time working with homeless youth who had suffered violence — experiences that deeply informed his perspective and creative voice.
The song carries a strong message of human resilience, with the line “You don’t want my pity, just a chance to show the world what you can do” standing as its emotional center. In a fitting tribute to its message, the track was released in conjunction with World Homeless Day.

The fresh gospel harmonies heard throughout are not new to Camrose’s work — the Collectives Gospel Choir previously added depth to his earlier track ‘Fly Again’. Their return on this single further amplifies its impact, providing a rich backdrop to Camrose’s storytelling.
After retiring from medicine, Camrose chose to pursue music fully, channeling lifelong influences like Bruce Springsteen and Elton John into his writing. His next project, American Stories, will explore themes tied to American culture and geography, reflecting his long-time connection with the U.S. and his aspiration to perform in Nashville.
‘Light in the Dark’ exemplifies how Camrose combines lived experience, musical integrity, and emotional truth into songs that resonate on multiple levels.
