Tanis unveils introspective single “Kid,” exploring childhood nostalgia and self-awareness through music and visuals.

Tanis, a multicultural artist shaped by life across the globe, returns with her most introspective work yet—her new single “Kid.” The track is a nostalgic, dream-pop exploration of how adulthood reshapes emotional expression and self-perception.

Featuring lyrics like: “It used to be cute when I was foolish, but no one forgives my actions now,” the song encapsulates the pressure to mature and the quiet longing to be seen with the same empathy once afforded in youth.

In the accompanying video, visual artist Paul Cruz captures this theme with layered simplicity. As Tanis performs, she pulls down a plain backdrop to reveal a colorful set adorned with giant teddy bears and balloons. The symbolism is clear—childhood innocence remains just behind the curtain. The large teddy bears were a happy accident, with the crew adapting to an unplanned delivery that proved visually impactful.

An additional visualizer directed by Roisino complements the main video, drawing on vivid tones and kinetic composition to support the track’s emotional current.
