Skegss tap into Latin influences on “State of Hawaii,” the second single from Top Heavy, out June 27.

Skegss continue to surprise with their latest single “State of Hawaii,” out now as the second preview of upcoming EP Top Heavy, dropping June 27 via Loma Vista Recordings. The track is a sonic detour, blending Latin-inspired percussion, lush vocals, and a first-time use of trumpet in the band’s catalog.

Written as a laid-back tribute to Hawaii and the idea of emotional escape, the song mixes tropical instrumentation with heartfelt delivery.

“We had a bit of fun with this song in the studio… We thought it would be fun to go a little Latin or Cuban,” explains Benny Reed. “We got some congas in there and trumpet for the first time, as well as some Spanish vocals.”

Shot during tour, the accompanying video directed by Kale Neville adds authenticity and texture to the single’s easygoing vibe.
