Samantha Fish’s “Paper Doll” blends rock, soul, and emotional grit into an electrifying new release.
New Orleans-based musician Samantha Fish has released Paper Doll, her bold new solo album on Rounder Records. Lauded by Rolling Stone as “a genuine force of sonic prowess,” Fish expands her dynamic range with this electrifying project.
Produced by Bobby Harlow (The Go), Paper Doll captures Fish’s fierce spirit and genre-defying approach. Celebrating its release, Fish will make her national TV debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show, performing “Lose You.” Featuring “sizzling slide escapades” (Premier Guitar), “Lose You” is, in Fish’s words, “a song about taking control and calling the shots in a relationship.”
Across nine tracks, Paper Doll is a fearless exploration of emotion, self-assertion, and raw energy. Fish says the album title reflects rebellion against imposed expectations: “It’s about rebelling against other people’s expectations of who you’re supposed to be.”
Recorded at The Orb and Savannah Studios while balancing a heavy tour schedule, Fish’s chemistry with her touring band shines through, delivering “road-worn chemistry and raw, electric charm” (Blues Rock Review).
Fresh from the Grammy-nominated Death Wish Blues and high-profile performances with The Rolling Stones, Fish embarks on a North American tour, including multiple sets at JazzFest.
