Sam Garrett has announced One Family, a transformative new album set to release this summer. Known for blending conscious songwriting with musical devotion, Garrett’s latest work carries the spirit of the 60s folk and peace movements into today’s world.
“This album is my ode to the freedom movements of the 60s and the music expressed by the youth of that time,” says Garrett.
With clear inspiration from legends such as Bob Dylan and The Beatles, Garrett uses One Family as a platform to explore dualities—light and shadow, division and connection. His collaboration with Mortimer on “Hey Amma” offers poignant commentary on history’s lingering pain: “I am the coloniser’s son, the one who won’t obey, the dream that you once had has turned into decay.”
He continues: “Freedom is our nature and this album is a reflection of that.”
Beyond its lyrical weight, the album is rich in musical diversity. Songs like “Be Free” and the title track “One Family” resonate with gentle optimism and spiritual grounding. Garrett continues to stand as a modern folk artist rooted in love, truth, and transformation—bringing art back to its role as catalyst and companion.
