Omari Banks and Chris Gayle channel their bond and island roots into reggae anthem “Living It Up.”
Omari Banks, acclaimed for his soulful approach to reggae, has released a new track “Living It Up” in collaboration with cricket legend Chris Gayle. The single, now available across streaming platforms, infuses rhythmic joy and real-life camaraderie into a feel-good anthem.
Omari, reflecting on his early days as a young cricketer, uses the song to channel both nostalgia and celebration. “Living It Up is inspired by the energy and party vibes that pulse through the Caribbean,” he explains.
The track’s production was shaped by Omari and Michael Fletcher, with executive support from Ann and Gordon Woodward. The song’s lyrical contributions are split between Omari, who wrote the hook and his parts, and Gayle and Camar “Flava”, who added additional verses that reflect their personalities.
For Omari and Gayle, this project isn’t just a one-time musical crossover—it’s built on years of friendship and mutual admiration. “Chris and I go way back… and the respect and bond we share made this an effortless collaboration,” says Omari.
Gayle brings his own vibe to the track: “When I first heard the track, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. It reflects how I live, fun, engaging, and always in celebration of life.”
“Living It Up” not only reflects the culture of the Caribbean, but also reminds listeners of the power of friendship, rhythm, and creative freedom.
