Listen to Olly Alexander’s “When We Kiss,” the latest single from Polari, releasing February 7.
Olly Alexander has released his latest single, “When We Kiss,” offering a raw and emotive glimpse into the complexities of love. The song is the fourth release from his upcoming album, Polari, set to debut on February 7. Accompanied by a visually captivating music video directed by Colin Solal Cardo, the track explores the tension of navigating a relationship at a crossroads.
Speaking about the song, Olly shares, “‘When We Kiss’ is an epic love song about a difficult moment in a relationship, when you don’t know whether you should break up or if you should stay together forever. I wanted this song to reflect those conflicted feelings, all the pain and ecstasy of loving someone. I believe heartbreak and synthesizers are made for each other, and I had the best time making this with my Polari partner Danny L Harle. Our aim was to take the listener on a rapturous journey of heartfelt emotion, from anguish to euphoria and back again.”
“When We Kiss” builds upon the success of Polari’s previous releases. “Cupid’s Bow,” the album’s lead single, set a deeply emotional tone, while the punchy title track, “Polari,” earned praise from Queerty for its ‘80s-inspired sound. To close 2024, the euphoric “Archangel” was named an “Editor’s Pick” by Billboard, lauded for its delicate synth-pop melodies and lush production.
The single is now available on all streaming platforms, giving fans another reason to look forward to Polari’s release on February 7.
