Rising artist Novulent explores love, loss, and growth on his new EP BEFORE EVOLUTION, available now via Capitol Records.
Novulent, one of alternative music’s most promising voices, releases his new EP, BEFORE EVOLUTION, through Capitol Records. The three-song project highlights his ability to blend raw emotion with innovative production, creating a deeply personal and cinematic listening experience.
The EP’s standout track, “death wish,” dives into the chaos of a toxic relationship. Featuring whatsaheart, the song uses vivid imagery to depict the highs and lows of a tumultuous connection. “The premise behind ‘death wish’ is a toxic relationship but very exaggerated, in order to be cinematic,” Novulent explains. “Your emotions are heightened, and it feels like a death wish.”
The EP marks a significant moment in Novulent’s journey as an artist. Known for his breakout single “scars”—which has racked up over 111 million streams on Spotify—Novulent has cultivated a devoted fanbase through his signature mix of hard rock, shoegaze, and Midwest emo.
The release coincides with the conclusion of Novulent’s debut headline Evolution Tour, which featured sold-out shows in major cities like Chicago and Los Angeles. The tour will wrap with performances in Houston, Dallas, and New York City, where Novulent will perform at Mercury Lounge on February 1.
