Mae Muller unveils “Breakaway,” a self-penned anthem of growth, reflection, and personal freedom.
After a transformative 15-month hiatus, Mae Muller returns with “Breakaway,” a personal and powerful new single that reflects her evolution as both an artist and a woman. Written by Mae and produced by Herik Michelsen, the track is her first as an independent artist and an open-hearted anthem of self-liberation.
Blending underground electronic textures with polished pop melodies, “Breakaway” explores vulnerability and emotional rebirth. Its driving beat and vocoded vocals feel like a sonic release—built for nights that end in introspection and mornings that start with clarity.
“I wrote Breakaway in a time when I felt quite lost as an artist,” Mae shares. “I was putting so much pressure on myself with my newfound independence… It’s about navigating vulnerability, but also finding my power within it, whilst not losing the joy along the way.”
The music video, directed by Ben Cole (Kylie, Mahalia), captures the haunting, frantic energy of inner transformation. It mirrors the emotional push and pull expressed throughout the song.
Known for her candid storytelling and fierce individuality, Mae leans deeper into her truth on “Breakaway.” This release marks not just a return, but a creative reset—one built on freedom, introspection, and the courage to evolve in public.
As Mae Muller enters this bold new era, her voice feels more confident, more raw, and more resonant than ever.
