Lights shares “WHITE PAPER PALM TREES” and “SURFACE TENSION,” two personal tracks from her album “A6”.
Lights continues her immersive approach to pop music with the release of two contrasting yet interconnected singles: “WHITE PAPER PALM TREES” and “SURFACE TENSION.” The songs arrive as dual previews of her forthcoming studio album A6, due May 2, and reflect her continued evolution as both a songwriter and visual artist.
Both written and produced by Lights, the tracks represent divergent creative impulses. “WHITE PAPER PALM TREES” revisits the lush, nostalgic tones of her earlier work, while “SURFACE TENSION” introduces a new sonic palette—one shaped by dark wave influences and German lyricism, reflective of A6’s international scope.
“I couldn’t decide which song to release because I feel like both appeal to such different sides of the fan base,” Lights says. “So I had the idea to release both simultaneously and let the fans decide where they stand.”
Rather than choosing between them, she let them coexist—and even built a visual counterpart to that duality. The self-directed music videos are designed to be played side by side, creating a layered, immersive experience that allows viewers to shift emotional tones in real-time.
The tracks follow “ALIVE AGAIN” and “DAMAGE,” adding depth and contrast to an already dynamic rollout. Fans can pre-order A6 now, with exclusive editions including orange crush vinyl and signed LPs.
Ahead of her upcoming North American tour, Lights will host a win-to-get-in event in Los Angeles on April 15. Titled Lights at Slipper Clutch (A)Live Again – an A6 Night, fans can enter to attend via her TikTok.
