With “Been A Minute,” Leigh-Anne blends dancehall roots with sharp visuals in a bold return.
With “Been A Minute,” released via Virgin Music Group, Leigh-Anne reasserts her individuality and musical vision. A track rooted in personal nostalgia and global rhythms, it’s a confident comeback filled with color, motion, and meaning.
The single samples Masters at Work’s “Work” and reinvents it through a modern lens, driven by production from Elijah “GYW Eli” Ross and Lasse Qvist. Leigh-Anne’s vocals glide effortlessly over the beat, reinforcing her distinctive presence in today’s R&B and pop space.
Directed by Femi Lade, the music video blends visual storytelling with performance. Beginning as a celebratory carnival scene, it twists into something more surreal when a masked figure takes over—a symbolic moment that contrasts control and transformation.
In Leigh-Anne’s own words:
“There’s something powerful about sampling a song that shaped me growing up… ‘Been a Minute’ is fun, nostalgic, and the first taste of this new era…”
This follows her 2024 project ‘No Hard Feelings’, an intimate release exploring love and heritage, and a successful UK & Ireland tour that introduced fans to Leigh-Anne’s solo journey.
Now, “Been A Minute” leads her into a packed summer festival season, including Reading and Leeds, and headline appearances at Manchester Pride and Mighty Hoopla Malta.
