“I wanted to do something tropical,” says Jay Wheeler of ‘Por Fa No Te Vayas’, with ‘Girasoles’ context and milestones.

The entry point into ‘Por Fa No Te Vayas’ is Jay Wheeler’s own explanation of why he took this path.
“I wanted to do something tropical and different, to challenge myself with a style I hadn’t tried before. I had done salsa once, but I felt I still needed to do bachata. I never imagined it would turn out so special—honestly, it’s one of my favorite songs,” said Jay Wheeler.

Anchored by that intention, the multi platinum singer songwriter moves into bachata with a song that balances heartbreak and hope, speaking to the wish that the person you see a future with will stay. The record sets a romantic, refreshing tone and reinforces his place as a versatile voice in Latin music. Released through Dynamic Records, EMPIRE, the single is out now on digital platforms.

The process was immediate and personal. In his home studio, Jay Wheeler heard a bachata produced by Yeziell and co written by Puerto Rican songwriter Vasave. He began to shape it in his own image, sharpening the melodies and delivery to give the track an intimate feel and the tropical atmosphere he wanted to inhabit. This move follows a period where other artists have explored tropical sound, and it situates his take squarely within that conversation while retaining his signature touch.

Parallel to the single, the artist invites fans further inside his world with ‘Girasoles: Desde La Raíz’. Directed by Enrique (Emma) González and produced by Dynamic Records, the documentary aligns directly with ‘Girasoles’, which he describes as his most personal album. The film offers a view into how each track came together.
