Surprise album ‘MIXTEIP’ brings genre diversity and personal reflections to the forefront of J Balvin’s catalog.
J Balvin surprises again with the arrival of MIXTEIP, an adventurous 10-track project that blends musical innovation with deep personal insight. This latest release marks a deliberate shift toward deeper storytelling and bolder genre experimentation.
“Zun Zun,” featuring Justin Quiles and Lenny Tavarez, opens the project with a fiery reggaeton beat. Its vintage-themed video creates an immersive throwback vibe, reviving the spirit of early reggaeton.
Balvin’s collaboration with Gilberto Santa Rosa on “Misterio” is a standout, particularly Santa Rosa’s spoken word moment: “Hermano, el amor no es siempre lo que parece…”—a line that adds emotional weight to the track’s genre transformation.
Elsewhere, MIXTEIP plays with form. “Bruz Wein” offers R&B minimalism, “Uuu” brings drill heat with Stormzy, and “St Tropez” amps up the adrenaline. “PQBL” and “No Te Olvido” reveal Balvin’s melodic and emotional range.
The album’s conclusion, “¿Dónde Está Jose?”, closes the loop on Balvin’s artistic reflection. Including prior singles “KLK” and “Rio,” MIXTEIP proves that authenticity and experimentation can coexist at the highest level.
