Emily James debuts “Underdog,” an emotionally charged single from “Summer Nostalgia”
Emily James’ newest track, “Underdog,” channels the confusion and chaos of youth through potent rock instrumentation and lyrical vulnerability. Featured on her upcoming EP Summer Nostalgia, the song represents a narrative shift and emotional breakthrough.
“I see it as a tumultuous high school relationship,” James explains. “The sound of ‘Underdog’ really leans into that teenage angst and the release of all the frustrations you’ve been trying to bury.”
With sharp lyrics like “I’m holding on to what could be, but would it be better?” James captures the hesitations and heartbreak that often define early emotional experiences.
