Diva Smith shares ‘Better in Heaven,’ a powerful new song that blends raw storytelling with soaring melodies.
Emerging singer-songwriter Diva Smith unveils her debut single, “Better in Heaven,” a track that blends deeply personal lyricism, emotional intensity, and hypnotic production. The song builds with a driving drumbeat and sweeping melodies, reflecting the highs and lows of heartbreak and healing.
Sharing the inspiration behind the track, Diva explains:
“‘Better in Heaven’ reflects on the feelings of hopelessness and confusion that come along with a first heartbreak; the worry that the sinking feeling will never pass, and hoping to every god that you don’t even believe in that it will. It explores the trials and triumphs that come along with healing, and resolves itself in knowing that as time passes, feelings pass too.”
Diva collaborated with Stella Smyth, a songwriter and producer she connected with at NYU. Their first writing session took place over Zoom during the pandemic, leading to a creative partnership that continues to thrive. The song also features additional production from GRAMMY-nominated producer Marty MARO (TWICE, Anitta, Selena Gomez).
With “Better in Heaven,” Diva introduces her “Therapy Pop” sound—a blend of honest storytelling and immersive melodies. Stay tuned for more in 2025.
