With ‘Fragile’ out now, Cameron Whitcomb reveals ‘The Hard Way’ for September 26, shares quotes and extensive tour details.
Cameron Whitcomb frames the moment in his own words as he unveils his first album. “This record is every piece of who I am,” says Whitcomb. “And I sincerely hope you enjoy it.” The debut, titled ‘The Hard Way’, will be released September 26 via Atlantic Records, and pre orders and pre saves are available now. To accompany the news, Whitcomb has shared ‘Fragile’, a new single that opens a window onto the themes that guide the project.
The album presents a candid look at Whitcomb’s life, moving from early struggles with addiction to recovery and adulthood. That honesty is distilled in ‘Fragile’, which addresses learned toughness, distance, and the decision to change course.
“‘Fragile’ is about being told to man up your whole childhood and pushing away everyone that cares because of your own insecurities,” shares Whitcomb. “It’s a song that came from a place of finally starting to understand why I was the way I was — and wanting to change that.”
‘Fragile’ was produced by Jack Riley, whose work includes Grace VanderWaal and Knox. The song was co written by Whitcomb with Nolan Sipe and Cal Shapiro, associated with Alex Warren’s ‘Ordinary’. The lyric is aimed at a common longing, to be loved in full view of everything a person has been through.
On stage, the new chapter is already underway. Whitcomb begins with a top billed performance at Ontario’s Boots and Hearts Music Festival. He then travels to the EU and UK for a sold out round of Hundred Mile High Tour dates. The I’ve Got Options Tour follows in the United States, opening September 26 in Portland, Oregon and running through mid November. Most shows are already sold out, including two nights at LA’s Troubadour on October 4 and 5, with added dates in Atlanta and Nashville responding to demand.
With ‘Fragile’ out and ‘The Hard Way’ on the calendar, Whitcomb’s voice meets a wider frame.
