Braden Bales reflects on pain and betrayal in “YOU LIED,” previewing his summer EP release.
Braden Bales gives voice to heartbreak in his latest single “YOU LIED,” released via Capitol Records. The track introduces listeners to the emotional arc of his forthcoming EP 5 STAGES OF GRIEF, capturing the depression stage with intensity and honesty.
“YOU LIED” stands as an unflinching account of betrayal’s aftermath. Bales wrestles with memories and misrepresentation, creating a song that feels personal yet universally resonant. His expressive vocal performance lays bare a narrative of love turned sour.
“I wrote YOU LIED when I heard my ex’s music that painted our relationship in a bad light,” Bales reveals. “We had a really bittersweet ending and it broke me to hear her talk negatively about everything we had and what being with me was like. ‘YOU LIED’ represents the depression stage of grief in my breakup and it’s written about the most painful part of this process.”
Fresh off his own headlining run, Bales now joins Livingston on The Story Continues tour across North America, with stops in Nashville, Atlanta, New York, and more.
As he prepares to unveil 5 STAGES OF GRIEF, Braden Bales continues to build a catalog rooted in emotional clarity and fearless storytelling.
