“Bad Day To Be My Ex” is a fierce anthem of self-respect and evolution from UK artist Bellah Mae.

In her latest single “Bad Day To Be My Ex,” UK pop artist Bellah Mae turns emotional pain into artistic power. The new track is a fearless, tongue-in-cheek anthem that celebrates growth, freedom, and the strength to not take heartbreak lying down.

Written in Nashville with Brigetta Truitt and produced by Brett Truitt, the track captures the self-aware yet carefree energy that defines this next phase of Bellah’s career. “I’ve really learned that I don’t have to be too strong all the time — I can still be soft,” she shares. “But if you break my heart… I’ll write an absolutely savage song about you.”

That balance between vulnerability and confidence has long been a hallmark of Bellah’s work. But this new release—along with several more on the way—marks a shift in tone. Where 2024’s Never Waste A Heartbreak leaned into reflective storytelling, “Bad Day To Be My Ex” is bold and unfiltered.

The song also features a playful cultural reference: “Gen-Z Pamela Anderson.” For Bellah, it’s more than a clever line. “I love that Pamela has really taken control of her career… Same with Dolly Parton,” she says. “These are powerhouse women.”
