Beks reclaims her voice with ‘Hard Gloss’, a striking debut EP pairing emotional truth with dance beats.
Beks introduces Hard Gloss—her debut EP that merges pulsing club-pop production with intimate lyrical depth. Released alongside her new single Who You Kidding, the project reflects an artist stepping confidently into her own sound.
Having performed alongside Sophie Ellis-Bextor and captivated festival crowds, Beks returns with material rooted in personal truth and refined studio work. Producer PALMR, mixer Tim Rowkins, and masterer Robin Schmidt contribute to the EP’s bold sonic landscape.
“I’d spent so much time writing for and with others, I needed to find my own voice again. There was no safety net this time. Just me, backing myself. ‘Hard Gloss’ is what came out of that,” says Beks.
The lead single blends 2000s nostalgia with modern flair, delivered with sleek vocals and fearless lyricism.
“It’s the sound of high-voltage empowerment. Part of it was written under a rusty umbrella on my manager’s balcony in the middle of a lightning storm in London. I dropped all creative filters and let the truth drive the song. That bridge? It’s my proudest moment,” she explains.
From the introspective I Knew A Girl to the glossy Butter and dramatic Melodrama, the EP moves seamlessly through moods, all while staying authentic.
