Watch Robin Cisek reclaim her identity in the self-directed video for “Rumor,” from her album ‘Tempered‘.
Robin Cisek turns the lens on digital distortion with the official music video for “Rumor,” a song pulled from her recently released sophomore album Tempered. Created entirely by Cisek — from concept to editing — the video reflects both her artistic independence and the emotional depth of the song itself.
Inspired by her own experience with online hate, the visuals offer a metaphorical look at how quickly identity can be lost in a sea of misinformation. The simplicity of the visuals underscores the weight of the subject.
“This video is my way of taking back control and reclaiming my identity,” Cisek shares. “So many people hide behind their devices, spreading rumours and tearing people down without any accountability. I wanted to turn that painful experience into something that feels empowering — something that reminds others that they’re not alone.”
In one of the most compelling scenes, she uses a phone held over her mouth, its screen displaying lips singing in her place. The result is a powerful visual representation of how online noise can rob people of their voices.
The track is one of seven on her album Tempered, released on May 30. The project was independently written and recorded, much of it in her home studio, showcasing Cisek’s control over every element of her art.
“Rumor” extends beyond its sonic roots to become a visual essay on self-reclamation, positioning Cisek as an artist unafraid to speak her truth — both literally and figuratively.
