iyla reveals haunting “Corset” video and announces debut album ‘Weeping Angel‘, out August 8.
In a bold artistic move, iyla unveils the official video for her single “Corset,” a dramatic and emotionally charged visual experience. With her debut album Weeping Angel arriving August 8, this new release underscores iyla’s vision and emotional depth.
Acting as the project’s creative director, iyla worked alongside Justin Moser to bring surreal, cinematic imagery to the screen. The visual mirrors themes from the album artwork, diving deep into the feeling of emotional constriction and release.
“Corset,” produced by Kadis, explores desire and discomfort—where passion overlaps with emotional unease. The visual’s styling and makeup, crafted by Carlos Aviles, Sasha Glasser, and Raylene Guzmán, enhances the storytelling through vivid and symbolic aesthetics.
The song is just one chapter in the broader story of Weeping Angel, a record formed in the wake of personal loss. iyla created the project after her mother passed away, turning grief into artistic resilience.
“I shared my blood, sweat, and tears,” she says. “But I would previously wonder, ‘What will people think?’… I’ve attained a level of confidence I didn’t have before.”
With the “Corset” video, iyla offers a clear artistic statement — one of vulnerability, confidence, and control.
