SE SO NEON’s “Remember!” offers a heartfelt look at what’s to come on the August 15 release of “NOW”.
SE SO NEON, the acclaimed South Korean band led by artist-producer Soyoon Hwang, shares a deeply personal new chapter through the single “Remember!”—a preview of the band’s upcoming album <NOW>, arriving August 15. Known for fusing genres like psychedelic rock, lo-fi, and synth-pop, SE SO NEON continues their sonic evolution while staying anchored in emotion and honesty.
The track “Remember!” was co-produced by Soyoon and Jon Nellen, with mixing by Nathan Boddy, known for his work with Pink Pantheress. With its rich dynamics and shifts in energy, the song captures Soyoon’s internal response to the passing of her friend and mentor, Ryuichi Sakamoto.
“Sadly, there are times when I come to understand myself through the death of others… The way of remembering him is to hold onto this,” she reflects.
The accompanying video, directed by Soyoon and filmed in Seoul, visually interprets the journey of loss, reflection, and creative rebirth. The emotion conveyed is not just personal—it’s palpable, reaching across languages and borders.
The album <NOW> emerged from a transformative period. After the release of her solo project Episode1: Love, Soyoon temporarily relocated to New York. Ten-hour studio days and a new environment helped reignite her artistic drive. “That’s why the album title is <NOW>,” she explains. “I felt hope.”
From her distinctive guitar style to her lyrical depth, Soyoon brings a nuanced artistic voice to <NOW>. SE SO NEON’s U.S. tour kicks off in September, with stops in New York, Chicago, L.A., and more.
