“Masochist” sees Empara Mi dive into the chaos of obsession in Chapter 2 of her conceptual album.

For Empara Mi, music is never just a song—it’s an experience. With “Masochist,” the second chapter in her evolving album Monsters & Masochists, the British artist dives into obsession, grief, and emotional self-destruction through an immersive fusion of sound, story, and movement.

Written with cinematic ambition, “Masochist” pulses with layered synths and aching piano chords, guiding the listener into the eye of emotional recklessness. “I actually put a Bond trailer on mute and wrote the song to it,” Empara Mi says. “My dream would be to actually do the song for Bond—but for now this can be my audition.”

Each chapter of Monsters & Masochists reflects a different stage of loss. Where “I Can’t” mourned through stillness, “Masochist” embodies emotional chaos. As always, Empara Mi pairs her sound with powerful visuals. The music video sees her transformed—wielding a sword, moving with precision and vulnerability, creating a language of grief through motion.

Her multidisciplinary approach continues to captivate. “I always find writing music a very immersive experience,” she adds—and it shows. The response to her first chapter, “I Can’t,” was immediate and intense, with over 800,000 views on the video in two weeks.

Empara Mi is building something rare: an album not just as a collection of songs, but as a narrative told through sonic landscapes and visual symbolism. “Masochist” is the moment where emotion becomes weapon—and artistry becomes metamorphosis.
