Aidan Bissett shares “are we in love yet?” The indie-pop anthem signals the start of his debut album era. Out now via Capitol Records.
Aidan Bissett is back with a bold new single, “are we in love yet?,” out now via Capitol Records. As the first taste of his forthcoming debut album, the track blends high-energy production with sharp, introspective lyricism, showcasing the qualities that have made Bissett one of pop’s most promising young voices.
The track, produced by Andrew Wells (The Vaccines, Biig Piig) and mixed by Tony Hoffer (Albert Hammond Jr., Phoenix), builds on a foundation of shimmering synths, driving guitar riffs, and stuttering drums. The lyrics explore the uncertainty of romantic and platonic relationships, culminating in the song’s massive chorus: “I wanna know, I wanna know, are we in love yet?”
Bissett explains the deeply personal inspiration behind the track: “‘are we in love yet?’ was a question I found myself asking anytime I had the opportunity to grow close to somebody — even if it was just a friend. Writing this song was the first step in realizing how addicted I was to finding connection in my life.”
With over 250 million global streams and recognition from Rolling Stone, Spotify’s Pop Rising, and TIDAL Magazine, Bissett has quickly become an artist to watch. Having toured alongside Lauv, Claire Rosinkranz, and Valley, he’s also sold out his own headlining shows across the US and internationally.
“are we in love yet?” marks the beginning of Bissett’s next phase, leading into what promises to be a landmark debut album.
