Lord Huron’s “Who Laughs Last?” features Kristen Stewart in her recording debut, delivering spoken word over haunting instrumentation.
Lord Huron has returned with their latest single, “Who Laughs Last?” marking the band’s first original release in two years. Featuring Academy Award-nominated actress Kristen Stewart in her recording debut, the track is a dark, cinematic exploration of tension and vulnerability. Released via Mercury Records, “Who Laughs Last?” pushes the boundaries of the band’s creative sound.
Opening with a driving guitar riff and a steady, ominous beat, the song highlights Stewart’s poetic spoken word reflections: “It made me feel something I never felt before…something between awestruck and horrified.” As the narrative unfolds, Ben Schneider takes the reins, delivering a powerful vocal hook: “You don’t remember what I said, but you’ll remember what I did.”
The song’s film-noir-inspired video, starring Stewart, complements its dark and introspective themes.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Schneider said: “Kristen was incredible to work with. I’d admired her work for years and thought her voice would be perfect for this track. She completely understood the vision and brought her own ideas to the song and video. It was one of those rare, dreamlike collaborations.”
With “Who Laughs Last?” Lord Huron continues to innovate, blending music and storytelling in ways that captivate listeners and leave them eager for more.
